Bambu Lab H2C AMS Combo is a high-performance 3D printing platform designed for advanced multi-color and multi-material workflows. Built around the innovative Vortek Hotend Change System, the H2C introduces automatic hotend switching, intelligent filament management, high-speed motion, active chamber heating, and comprehensive real-time monitoring.

Instead of repeatedly purging filament through a single nozzle during color or material changes, the H2C can assign different materials to separate hotends. This significantly reduces purge waste while making complex multi-material projects faster and more practical.

Vortek Hotend Change System

The defining feature of the Bambu Lab H2C is the patented Vortek Hotend Change System. The printer can automatically switch between up to six interchangeable inductive hotends, allowing different filaments to remain assigned to dedicated nozzles throughout a print.

Each hotend includes its own identification and memory. The printer remembers which filament was previously used with a particular hotend and can recommend an efficient nozzle-to-material configuration for subsequent jobs.

Multi-Color Printing with Minimal Waste

Traditional multi-color printing often requires filament to be purged every time the printer changes materials. With Vortek, different filaments can remain loaded in their corresponding hotends, greatly reducing the amount of material discarded during transitions.

The filament distribution algorithm in Bambu Studio helps determine an efficient allocation of materials between available hotends. When combined with AMS modules, the H2C becomes a highly scalable platform for complex multi-material projects.

High-Speed and High-Precision Motion

The H2C combines high-speed CoreXY-class motion with advanced motion control and calibration technologies. Maximum print speed can reach 1000 mm/s, while acceleration reaches up to 20,000 mm/s².

For demanding applications requiring high dimensional consistency, the optional Vision Encoder system provides movement accuracy below 50 μm. This helps reduce mechanical deviations and improves repeatability across complex prints.

Powerful Servo Extruder

The H2C uses a closed-loop PMSM servo motor for extrusion. It can generate extrusion force of up to 10 kg, providing stable filament feeding even during demanding high-speed printing.

This additional force and closed-loop control are particularly valuable when working with engineering materials or high-flow printing profiles where consistent extrusion is essential.

Large Build Volume

With a build volume of 330 × 320 × 325 mm, the Bambu Lab H2C provides enough space for large functional parts, prototypes, engineering components, decorative models, and multi-part projects.

The generous print area allows users to produce larger components in a single piece or arrange multiple smaller parts on the build plate for efficient batch production.

Engineering Material Capability

The H2C is designed not only for standard PLA and PETG printing but also for demanding engineering materials that require higher and more stable temperatures.

The actively heated chamber helps maintain stable internal temperatures, reducing warping and improving layer consistency when printing materials such as ABS, PC, PA and other engineering-grade filaments.

The H2C combines an extensive sensor network with machine-vision cameras to monitor the complete printing process. In a fully equipped H2C Laser Edition configuration, the system includes up to 59 sensors together with multiple cameras.

The monitoring system analyzes printing conditions, filament movement and machine behavior in real time, helping identify potential problems before they affect the entire print.

Automatic Pre-Print Inspection

Before printing begins, the H2C can perform a comprehensive preparation and inspection process. The system checks critical printer components and scans the build surface for foreign objects or debris that could interfere with the print.

Combined with automated calibration, this reduces manual preparation and makes repeat printing more reliable.

AMS Expansion and Material Management

The H2C is designed to work with the Bambu Lab Automatic Material System. Depending on the configuration, the material system can be expanded to support up to 24 filaments, giving users extensive flexibility when preparing complex multi-color or multi-material jobs.

For configurations intended to make full use of six interchangeable Vortek hotends, Bambu Lab recommends the corresponding AMS setup and inductive hotends.

Intelligent Cooling and Air Filtration

The printer incorporates controlled cooling for the printed model, hotend and internal electronics. Stable thermal management helps maintain consistent operating conditions during long, high-speed print jobs.

The enclosed chamber also incorporates a multi-stage filtration system designed for printing materials that can generate particles or odors.

Its Vortek architecture addresses one of the biggest challenges of traditional multi-color FDM printing — excessive purge waste — while giving users significantly greater flexibility when working with multiple colors and materials.
